Traditional Printing is done using separate colors to create your
image. The cost of the print job depends on the number of colors that
you require. For example: If you want the American flag on your
business card, you would pay for a 2 color job. (Red and Blue). There
would be a press plate made for everything that should be printed in
red and another press plate for everything that should be printed in
blue. Because of the cost of adding colors, most traditional printing
jobs are typically run 1 or 2 colors.
:
Full color process eliminates the need to print colors separately. It
gives you the freedom to put an unlimited number of colors on paper.
What does this mean? It means that you can add photographs and designs to
your piece that were otherwise not possible by means of traditional
printing methods. Just like a television separates video into 3 colors:
Red, Green, and Blue (RGB), full color process involves separating
digital artwork into the elements Cyan Magenta, Yellow, and Black
(CMYK). This divides your art into 4 colors and is the reason it is
also known as 4 color process printing. Though historically, this type
of printing could only be afforded by larger companies, the price has
come down significantly and is now reasonable enough for small
businesses to enjoy.
As you can see to your left, we have sectioned off our product page
into those two types of printing to make it easier for you. But we urge
you not to forget that we offer short-run digital full color printing,
thermography and foil stamping/embossing as well.
